My name is Edward Genereux and I am running for city council in Independence, MN. My father, Jim, ran for the State Senate in 1990 while I was just a baby. He didn't win, but his willingness to serve inspired me to do the same 36 years later. Dad passed on in 2015, but I still hope to make him proud by improving my community as a member of the city council.Priorities
1) Affordability - The cost of living has impacted the lifestyles of people at all income levels. We need a city council that can acknowledge that.
2) Opportunity - We all want to reach our full potential. Independence must be a city where opportunity can thrive.
3) Responsible Development - Independence is a rural community, but it is also a growing community. We must develop in such a way that we honor our roots while meeting the needs of tomorrow.
4) Public Safety - Independence must remain one of the safest cities in Minnesota.In addition to these broader priorities, I will work hard to ensure hyper local issues are addressed in a timely, and fiscally reasonable, manner.Resume
